From Changsha/Changde, take the G5513 Changzhang Expressway and exit at “Tianmen Mountain Exit”; from Wuhan/Jingzhou, take G50 Huyu or G42 Hurong and transfer to G5513; from Chongqing/Enshi, take G65 Baomao or G50 and transfer to S10 Zhanghua then G5513; from Guangzhou/Guiyang, take G60 Hukun or G76 Xiarong and transfer to G65 Baomao.
Parking: The scenic area has a large parking lot beside the cableway lower station. Private cars are strictly forbidden on the Heaven-Linking Avenue; internal traffic is managed by the scenic area, and all visitors must transfer to the park’s shuttle transport up the mountain.
By Train
Zhangjiajie Station (conventional trains) recommended: about 1–2 km from the Tianmen Mountain cableway lower station, a 10–20 minute walk — the most convenient choice. Buses take about 10–15 minutes (CNY 1–2, routes 5 or 6); taxi / ride-hailing about 5 minutes (about CNY 10–15).
Zhangjiajie West Station (high-speed rail): mainly serves G and D high-speed trains, about 10 km from the cableway lower station and requiring a transfer. Taxi / ride-hailing about 20–30 minutes (about CNY 30–40); bus about 40–60 minutes (CNY 2–3, route 17).
If you have a choice, prefer getting off at Zhangjiajie Station (conventional), from which you can walk to the cableway — saving time and effort.
By Plane
Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (code DYG) is southwest of downtown, about 5–6 km from the Tianmen Mountain cableway lower station. Taxi / ride-hailing about 15–20 minutes (about CNY 15–30); bus (route 4) about 20–30 minutes (CNY 1–2); some hotels and B&Bs offer airport pickup.
Insist on the meter for taxis and prefer ride-hailing apps; be cautious of people soliciting passengers at the station exit and do not easily trust them.
