Day 1: the three core areas

After arriving, start with Doupotang and its broad “roaring fall”; in the afternoon go deep into Tianxingqiao (life-counting steps, water stone forest, Silver-chain Falling Pool); in the evening finish at the great fall, visiting the Water Curtain Cave as conditions allow. A night tour can be added if wished.

Day 2: Longgong and lesser-known spots

In the morning visit Longgong, taking a boat into the cave to see the water cave and concentrated karst; in the afternoon link Shitouzhai, Dishuitan waterfall and Balinghe Bridge, returning to your lodging by evening. Families keen on study can linger at the Bridge Museum.

Day 3: culture and countryside to finish

In the morning head to Tianlong Tunpu or Anshun old town for tunpu culture and street life; in the afternoon go to Langong for river-valley countryside — rafting in summer — or the Bridge Museum, rounding off the trip.

Trip and travel tips

  • Stay: base near the area or in Anshun city to cut back-and-forth travel;
  • Travel: use shuttles, chartered cars or driving between sights, and plan the route well;
  • Tickets: note admission, shuttle tickets and night tours or rafting are arranged separately;
  • Pace: the three days are full — add or drop stops to taste.

FAQ

How should I plan a three-day Huangguoshu trip?
Day one for the three core areas — Doupotang, Tianxingqiao and the great fall (with the Water Curtain Cave as conditions allow); day two for Longgong, linking Shitouzhai, Dishuitan waterfall and Balinghe Bridge; day three for Tianlong Tunpu or Anshun old town, then Langong’s river-valley countryside or rafting to finish. The three days are full — add or drop stops to taste.
How should I plan a two-day trip to Huangguoshu?
Day one for the three core areas: Doupotang in the morning, Tianxingqiao in the afternoon, the great fall in the evening (with the Water Curtain Cave as conditions allow). Day two for around the area — Longgong, Tianlong Tunpu or Anshun old town, or Balinghe Bridge and Dishuitan waterfall. Two days suit those who want to explore fully.
Can I cover Huangguoshu, Tianxingqiao and Doupotang in one day?
Yes, with good planning. A time-saving order is usually Doupotang → Tianxingqiao → the main fall; the main fall is the highlight, so give it ample time. For a deeper Tianxingqiao visit or to add the night tour and nearby spots, allow two days for a calmer experience.
Which nearby sights can I add?
Around Huangguoshu, Anshun also has Longgong, Tianlong Tunpu, Getu River and Anshun Old Town, known for caves, Tunpu culture, through-caves and a historic district — combine them over one to three days.
