To make summer travel easier for visitors from central China, Zhangjiajie has teamed up with rail operators to add several tourist through trains from Wuhan starting in mid-June, with more services following in July. The arrangement is expected to carry nearly 8,000 passengers, and further departures may be added according to demand.
Wuhan and nearby cities such as Jingzhou and Enshi have long been important source markets for Zhangjiajie, sending close to 100,000 visitors a year by rail, road and air. As transport links keep improving, the two sides are working toward a regular through-train service that makes weekend trips to Zhangjiajie easy.
