Why two days

The area is large and scattered; the three core areas lie from several to ten kilometres apart, and the walking loop takes a long time. In peak season, queues and slow-moving crowds are unavoidable, and a rushed single day is tiring and unsatisfying. Two days make for a far calmer pace.

Day one: the three core areas

  • Morning: start with Doupotang and its broad “roaring fall”;
  • Noon: lunch in the area or near the ticket centre;
  • Afternoon: a deep visit to Tianxingqiao (life-counting steps, water stone forest, Silver-chain Falling Pool);
  • Evening: finish at the main fall, visiting the Water Curtain Cave as conditions allow.

Day two: around the area

  • Option 1: Longgong, with a boat into the cave and concentrated karst scenery;
  • Option 2: Tianlong Tunpu or the old town of Anshun, for tunpu culture and street life;
  • Option 3: Balinghe Bridge and Dishuitan waterfall, for views, study and falls.

Stay and travel tips

  • Stay: many choices near the area or in Anshun city — stay near your focus to save time;
  • Travel: use the shuttle between areas; if driving, mind parking and shuttle transfers;
  • Tip: tickets and shuttle tickets are used within their validity — plan well for a smoother trip.

FAQ

How should I plan a two-day trip to Huangguoshu?
Day one for the three core areas: Doupotang in the morning, Tianxingqiao in the afternoon, the great fall in the evening (with the Water Curtain Cave as conditions allow). Day two for around the area — Longgong, Tianlong Tunpu or Anshun old town, or Balinghe Bridge and Dishuitan waterfall. Two days suit those who want to explore fully.
How should I plan a three-day Huangguoshu trip?
Day one for the three core areas — Doupotang, Tianxingqiao and the great fall (with the Water Curtain Cave as conditions allow); day two for Longgong, linking Shitouzhai, Dishuitan waterfall and Balinghe Bridge; day three for Tianlong Tunpu or Anshun old town, then Langong’s river-valley countryside or rafting to finish. The three days are full — add or drop stops to taste.
How should I choose lodging around Huangguoshu?
Around the site is closest to the entrances for early starts; Huangguoshu town has concentrated dining and shopping with good value; Anshun city has the most choice and amenities but a longer commute. Peak season tightens supply — book early and confirm transport.
Can I cover Huangguoshu, Tianxingqiao and Doupotang in one day?
Yes, with good planning. A time-saving order is usually Doupotang → Tianxingqiao → the main fall; the main fall is the highlight, so give it ample time. For a deeper Tianxingqiao visit or to add the night tour and nearby spots, allow two days for a calmer experience.
